Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why do you have two ports of embarkation/disembarkation on your web site for the Grenadines?
A: Our research, experience and comments from our guests indicate the following:

Option One: Flying to Grenada is relatively easy and cheaper for U.S. guests, but requires a long sail on the first morning to get up to the more spectacular islands of the Grenadines. This can be up to six hours of sailing on the first day.... Not everyone's cup of tea for the first day....

Option two: Flying to St.Vincent is a little more inconvenient as you have to 'island hop' or transfer flights in Barbados. HOWEVER, it makes for a much shorter sail on the first morning... a good idea for more delicate guests or if anyone suffers from seasickness.

A nice trip is St Vincent to Grenada, as this is generally downwind all the way which is more comfortable sail...

If you are only spending a week with us, then we recommend St Vincent as your port of embarkation/disembarkation.

If you can stay longer on your charter than Grenada is fine for boarding and disembarking...

Q: What should we pack?
A: For clothes; Tee shirts and shorts are about all you need, plus your swimming kit. You may want one set of casual/smart clothes if you intend going ashore for dinner anywhere.

Reef sandles and wet-suit bootees are also VERY useful.

We also suggest bringing a decent pair of sunglasses and sun-hat.

Most people bring too much!

Plenty of sun cream is essential, and if you burn easily, or have been up in the chilly northern states (!) a high SPF sun-cream is recommended.

Please bring a beach towel.

Please use soft luggage if possible, it's easier to stow away and gives us more space during your charter.

We provide a full set of masks, snorkels and fins. You are welcome to bring your own if you wish.

If you get cold easily, then we suggest a lightweight summer wet-suit for snorkeling and diving.

We have a fairly extensive medical kit on board, but if you are on any special medication/ointments then bring enough for your vacation.

Medical supplies are limited in the Grenadines.

Q: What voltage electricity do you have on board?
A: We have 12v / 24v / 110v and 240v available.

12v and 24v supplies are from the yachts batteries.

We have 110v U.S. sockets in the cabins and saloon.

We have 240v available in the saloon.

You do NOT need a hairdryer!

Q: Will my cell phone work?
A: Yes! There is cell service signal throughout the islands..... you may need to check with your service provider to ensure you are set for roaming....(It is not cheap!)

We have a satellite phone for longer sailing trips if we are going to be a long way offshore at any time...

Q: Is WIFI / Internet available?
A: There are internet cafes in the larger island towns.

There is wifi coverage over the larger anchorages... sometimes free, other times an hourly or daily charge is applied...

Q: What food do we serve?

A: On crewed charters, our chef will cook three meals a day. There will be a variety of meals, both meat and fish. We try to obtain, (and catch), fresh fish daily where possible, and always use fresh veggies and fruit where available....

We do cater to simple food allergies and medical conditions that require a specialised diet, such as coeliacs, diabetics, lactose intolerant etc.

We do not cater for weight loss diets but my chef will be happy to feed you rabbit food if you wish, as she frequently does that for me!

We can also cater for vegetarians...

Please advise us in advance on the booking form or by email of any allergies or medical conditions that may require a special diet.

Q: Medical care, doctors and dentists?
A: There are facilities available but I would say not what you are used too...

Take a check-up before you travel if you have any concerns, and medical insurance is always a good idea.

Q: What day can we start and finish our charter?
A: Any day you like..... research has shown that flights during the week are often cheaper than the weekend flights....

So we can start and finish our charter on any day of the week... (subject to any prior bookings)
